The Federal Reserve recently announced an increase in the rate of benchmark interest rates by 0.25% which is expected to affect the borrowing costs that consumers in most markets pay.

With the low interest rates in place for years, borrowing has become much more expensive after they’ve been raised.

The Federal Reserve has been steadily increasing interest rates to address the threat of inflation that seems to be steadily rising.

Interest rates are rising quickly, the fastest in any of our adult lives. Credit card rates are the highest since 1995, mortgage rates are the highest since 2008 and car loan rates are among the highest in years.

But a combination of higher rates and inflation has caused consumers to take the brunt. The consumer price index (CPI) has risen 8.3% over the last year

With prices on the rise and interest rates on the raise, more people are turning to credit when it may not be wise.

“At this stage, with another rate increase on the horizon, those with variable-rate debts should be prepared for their monthly payments to rise,” .

The company has opened their new hub city of Malaga on Spain’s Costa del Sol for their junior staff.

Applicants are drawn by the prospect of a reprieve from traditional grueling hours, though salaries are lower.

The bank has hired 27 people so far. They want a total of 30. This group is mostly made up of people aged 22 to 26, most of whom come from 20 different countries (22 on average). They speak 15 different languages on average.

Salaries in Malaga are still significantly lower than those in London and New York, but the cost of living is also reduced as accommodation and food will be less expensive.

Investment bankers in London typically work 65-70 hours per week during quieter periods, but it can be much more depending on the season.

The first day at the office included a round of hobnobbing with Malaga’s Mayor. The venue formally opened on Wednesday.

Bank representatives clarified that these new jobs are primarily office-based and, as such, won’t be all remote.

All the games in the quarter-finals of the men’s Volleyball World Cup, which continues in Poland and Slovenia, have been completed. We shall remind you that on Wednesday the Italian team beat the reigning Olympic champions the French 3-2, while the Slovenian volleyball team defeated the Ukrainian team 3-1.

Today both games were held in the Polish city of Gliwice. First came the Latin American derby Argentina v Brazil. After the opponents had played one game each, the lead went to the Brazilians, who won the third and fourth sets.

Poland and USA also met in the quarter finals, in which group stage the teams were paired and then clinched the win for the home side with a 3-1 win. And this time the Polish volleyball team won, only this time in five games.

Salesforce.com Inc (NYSE:CRM) gained 0.16p (0.10%) to close at 153.69. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) gained 0.01p (0.03%) to close at 35.27.

Leading the fall were shares of 3M Company (NYSE:MMM), whose price fell 3.98p (3.17%) to close the session at 121.65. Shares of Honeywell International Inc (NASDAQ:HON) climbed 3.84p (2.01%) to close at 186.89 and Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) dropped 2.48p (1.78%) to close trading at 137.16.

The top gainers among NASDAQ Composite index components in today’s trading were Venus Concept Inc (NASDAQ:VERO) which gained 54.87% to 0.54, Sunrise New Energy Co Ltd (NASDAQ:EPOW) which gained 31.46% to close at 2.80, and Advanced Human Imaging Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:AHI) which gained 29.90% to close the session at 1.26.

PolyPid (NASDAQ:PYPD) shares were the fallers, down 73.47% to close at 1.43. Shuttle Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:SHPH) shares lost 71.56% to end the session at 14.90. ShiftPixy Inc (NASDAQ:PIXY) was down 33.92% to 13.60.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that declined (1,797) exceeded the number that closed on the plus side (1,297), while the quotation of 136 stocks was virtually unchanged. On NASDAQ, 2,338 stocks declined, while 1,371 gained and 257 remained flat.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is derived from options trading on the S&P 500, fell 0.35% to 25.47.

Gold futures for December delivery added 0.70%, or 12.05, to reach $1.00 per troy ounce. As for other commodities, WTI crude futures prices for October delivery rose 0.59%, or 0.51, to $87.12 a barrel. Brent crude futures for November delivery rose 1.02%, or 0.94, to $93.30 a barrel.

Meanwhile on the forex market the EUR/USD was little changed 0.17% to 1.00 and USD/JPY was down 0.02% to 140.18.

NBA executives want to approve a play-in system on a regular basis. Thus, the first six teams would get a playoff spot, with teams seventh through tenth going to the playoffs.

In the play-in, the seventh team plays the eighth team, with the winner going to the playoffs from seventh place.

The loser of the matchup between seventh and eighth teams plays the winner of the matchup between ninth and tenth. The winner of such a matchup goes to the playoffs from eighth place.

The playoffs were first implemented in the NBA in the 2019/20 season.
